Vodafone Romania is a subsidiary of Vodafone Group, one of the world’s leading telecoms and technology service providers, with an extensive experience in communications, convergence and the Internet of Things (IoT), as well as in promoting the mobile financial services and digital transformation in emerging markets.

Vodafone has been present in Romania since 1997. Over the years, the operator has invested in innovation and is the first one to provide GPRS (2001), 3G (2005), 4G (2012) and 5G (2019) services. Among the premieres of Vodafone Romania on the local market, there are the first call center service (1997), the first corporate foundation (1998), the launch of the SMS service and the data and fax service (1998), the first automatic speech recognition system (2014) and the first NB-IoT network (2018). Starting with 2019, Vodafone Romania became a convergent services operator.
