Funding available for expanding therapy services for children with disabilities

The Ministry of Investments and European Projects has launched a project call under the Inclusion and Social Dignity Programme 2021–2027, Priority Axis: Support for people with disabilities. The call aims to support the development of day centers and the provision of psychological therapies for children with disabilities under the age of 18.

Objectives of the call:

  • Improve access to psychological therapy, speech therapy, physiotherapy, and other personalized interventions for children with disabilities;
  • Promote the inclusion of children from vulnerable backgrounds;
  • Strengthen the capacity of licensed day centers that provide these services.

Eligible activities:

  • Identification and selection of children with disabilities, in collaboration with DGASPC (General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection);
  • Provision of habilitation and rehabilitation services: psychological therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, music therapy, etc., including via digital technologies or AI-based tools;
  • Support for families and caregivers of children with disabilities.

It is mandatory to expand the activity of at least one licensed day center for children with disabilities (code 8891CZ-C-III). Proposals involving the expansion of multiple licensed centers will receive additional evaluation points.

Target group:

  • Children with disabilities under the age of 18, residing in the project implementation region;
  • Families and caregivers of these children.

Each project must reach a minimum of 120 children, with a recommendation of 130 for maximum scoring. At least 15% should belong to the Roma community to receive full points in the evaluation grid.

Budget and financial conditions:

  • Maximum funding per project: €1,600,000
  • Co-financing: 2% for local authorities (UATs, DGASPC, DAS); 0% for NGO partners
  • Project duration: up to 42 months, but not later than December 31, 2029

Who can apply:

  • Accredited social service providers (public or private);
  • In partnership with local authorities, where applicable (municipalities, social assistance departments, DGASPC).

Applicants and partners must demonstrate relevant experience in the field through past projects or contracts related to therapies or services for children with disabilities, with a proven implementation rate of at least 90%.
