ICI Bucharest, founding member of CITI Cluster, launches initiatives for cybersecurity and digital innovation

The National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest, a founding member of CITI Cluster, continues to actively engage in the development and implementation of innovative projects in the fields of information technology and cybersecurity.

Recently, the General Director of ICI Bucharest, Victor Vevera, participated in a live session where he provided details about the institute’s initiatives.

NATO Projects and High Performance Computing

ICI Bucharest is developing the NATO Cyber Ranges project in the energy sector in collaboration with partners from Azerbaijan. Additionally, the institute is making advancements in the field of hypercomputing through a dedicated competence center. It has recently completed mapping the necessary capabilities and capacities, laying the groundwork for the implementation of AI factory technologies.

Quantum Technology and Tourism Initiatives

The institute is involved in projects related to quantum technology and is collaborating with the Ministry of Tourism, Economy, Entrepreneurship, and Digitalization to develop applications for tourist registration. The goal is to create a database that provides authorities with accurate information about the number and type of tourists, thereby facilitating the development of effective public policies and stimulating local development.

Cybersecurity Services

In the field of cybersecurity, ICI Bucharest operates a Security Operation Center that provides services to both the public and private sectors. This center supports entities that lack internal cybersecurity departments by offering access to specialists and dedicated services—an essential resource in the current era of digitalization.

Training in Digital Skills

The institute has expanded the capacity of its training and continuous education center for adults, responding to the growing demand for digital skills courses. These include ethical hacking and operations training, preparing the workforce for the challenges of the digital society and adapting to new technologies.

Through these projects and initiatives, ICI Bucharest reaffirms its commitment to contributing to Romania’s digital transformation and strengthening national cybersecurity.
