The Online Procurement Helpdesk for Smart Communities offers a unique opportunity for cities and communities—whether at the early stages or scaling their digitalisation efforts—to receive free guidance on developing and scaling digital infrastructure. Through this helpdesk, cities can gain valuable insights to strategically navigate the digital landscape in the coming years, paving the way for implementing Local Data Platforms or Local Digital Twins.

Additional support from the European Commission

The European Commission, through the Living-in.EU initiative and the support of the “Artificial Intelligence for Societal Good” unit, offers this service at no direct cost to 150 cities from all EU Member States, as this initiative is fully funded by the Digital Europe Programme. This initiative focuses on:

  • Tools for Local Digital Twins: From digital maturity assessment, to procurement support, this project offers startegic guidance for advancing in the enabling digital and technological infrastructure for developing Local Digital Platforms and Digital Twins. Those advancements might include models and AI algorithms to simulate urban scenarios, with direct benefits for pollution reduction, energy efficiency, and improved urban mobility, as well as creating interactive models that facilitate citizen participation in urban planning projects.
  • Extended geographical representation: Ensuring a balance across all EU Member States to guarantee fair access to the resources and services provided.
