The New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative is a European interdisciplinary movement that promotes sustainability, inclusion and aesthetics in urban and community projects. As part of this initiative, small municipalities are invited to participate in a special program, called NEB Boost for Small Municipalities, designed to support them in implementing innovative projects.
The main goal of NEB is to transform local communities into greener, more attractive and more friendly spaces for residents. The Small Municipalities Program provides technical and financial assistance to facilitate the development of local projects that adhere to the NEB principles: sustainability, aesthetics and inclusion.
Eligible municipalities can apply for support in developing projects focused on:
- Reducing carbon footprint
- Improving the quality of life of residents
- Integrating local traditions into a modern and sustainable framework
According to the official documentation and the list published in the attached file, the municipalities in Romania that can apply must meet certain criteria. The list includes localities such as:
- Suceava – With a population of 120,760 inhabitants, this municipality has the potential to develop projects that combine cultural history with ecological modernization.
- Reșița – With 79,977 inhabitants, the city has opportunities to transform industrial areas into green spaces.
- Alba Iulia – Known for its innovative initiatives, this city with 74,447 inhabitants can benefit from support for digital and ecological projects.

How is it applied?
